Based on the principles of permaculture, project Maya works to connect people, place and planet. We use cutting edge academic research to inform our practice and carry out a number of different activities/initiatives.
Our present work focusses on:
- working with local communities to help establish local conservation, environmental and food growing initiatives (including vertical gardening and urban permaculture/agriculture);
- facilitating joint ventures between local government and corporate communities;
- developing, implementing and evaluating programs;
- undertaking qualitative/quantitative research;
- training/implementing use of Twitter, Facebook, youtube and other web 2.0. applications;
- professional writing/editing;
- assistance in grant writing;
- translation of research/project information (languages: Doric, English, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai)
- presentations on complexity, resilience, conservation, participation, permaculture, climate change, and sustainability for schools, community groups, government and business;
- owning and managing Maya Project land in urban and peri-urban areas for community access and sustainability initiatives.
